Safelock Systems was incorporated in 1985 by Jim and Linda Brown after Jim gained experience in the industry working for Sargent & Greenleaf. Jim worked in partnership with LA GARD founder Nick Gartner, to begin distributing the LA GARD range of mechanical combination and key locks, and with his personable, genuine and passionate approach, began successfully marketing to the UK and Ireland.
Jim and Linda started the business from home…
…and soon found that their children didn’t quite grasp the intended purpose of a LA GARD combination dial carton.
Safelock Systems moved to Motspur Park in 1988, and have been there since.
As the industry evolved and electronic lock systems were developed by LA GARD, Safelock Systems Ltd continued to expand, with its focus on the programming and supply of electronic locks – still recognisable on safes, vaults, cabinets and ATMs across the world.
Around the turn of the century, manufacturers began developing more complex electronic lock systems to meet increasing technological and security needs. LA GARD’s partnership with Tecnosicurezza allowed the business to grow.
With the passing of Jim early in 2012, and the retirement of Tom as the General Manager, Jim’s son Tony, and daughter Jasmine, joined the company. They immediately saw the potential working with the already successful team, and with a change to the international distribution of LA GARD, had the opportunity to expand the company’s portfolio of manufacturers, to include Tecnosicurezza, dormakaba and Wittkopp.
2020 brings further investment in expanding sales channels, with the addition of eCommerce to support our trade customers.
