
What you’ll need
CombiLock is audited and configured using Windows software and peripheral equipment.
The configuration kit can be purchased from our online store.
Download and install the driver
- Click the button below to access a webpage were a .zip (Compressed) file with the driver can be downloaded.
- On the web page that opens, click the Download button
located top left on the page. Do not click the file itself
The zipped file will download to either the downloads folder, or another location depending on your browser. Once the file has downloaded, it must be unpacked or unzipped.
- Locate then right click the file and select Extract all….
If it is not possible to unpack the .zip file using the Extract all... command, download suitable unpacking software such as 7-zip
If there are problems with extracting the file to the suggested location, extract the file directly to the (C:) drive.
- Connect the USB cable to the interface with the USB-B square connector and then connect the USB-A connector to the PC.
- Open Device Manager by typing into the search bar
- In the list of devices, there should be an item Other devices, with INSYS xComm

- Right click Insys xComm and select Update driver
- Select Browse my computer for drivers
- Browse to the location where the zipped file was extracted and select the extracted folder Driver_INSYS_XCOMM_WIN7 so that it is highlighted, then click OK
- Wait for the driver to finish installing.
- In Device manager, under Ports, there should be an item called INSYS xCOMM (COM?) where ? is a port number. Make a note of the COM port number.
Download the software

If there are problems with extracting the file to the suggested location, extract the file directly to the (C:) drive.
- Copy the extracted folder CombiComm_Portable_3.5.992 to a location on your (C:) drive. We use the Program Files folder
- It is not necessary to go through an installation procedure for CombiComm software, it can be opened from that folder

- If required, right click the icon and select Send to>Desktop (Create shortcut). If using windows 11, click More options then Send to>
Opening and using the software
- Double click the CombiComm icon to open the software
On first opening, the software language defaults to German. and a dialogue box pops up.

- Click OK, then at the top left menu of the software click Sprache to select English

- Close the software, then reopen it. The initial dialogue box requires you to specify the firmware version of the lock you will be communicating with.

Please contact us to confirm the correct selection depending on the model number of the lock in use, which can be found on the label on the lock body. The most common is CombiLock Pro/RFID
- After selecting the lock system and error messgae may show “Error opening COM port”
- Click Interface, and select the relevant COM port number. It may be necessary to also change the bit rate to 1200.

- Activate PC connection. Instructions to do this can be found in the Advanced Instructions on our CombiLock Pro page.
- Open the front of the keypad and plug the pico-SPOX connector from the interface into the port on the keypad
- In the software click Version to check the communication

- If communication is working correctly, a pop up will show the lock’s firmware version. The lock stays in PC connection mode for 240 seconds

- To audit the lock click Read log
- To configure the lock, first use the Read button to check existing settings. Change as required and then click Send
- Once work is completed, click Terminate which takes the lock out of PC connection mode
If the software is not communicating with the lock, check that the correct lock was listed, or try to change the COM port bit rate to different values.
