What you’ll need
LA GARD locks are audited and setup using Windows software and peripheral equipment. An auditable keypad is also required.
- If the lock has not been fitted with an auditable keypad, one can be connected to the lock temporarily for taking audit or setup.
The audit and setup peripheral equipment required depends on the keypad in use. Kits are available to purchase from our online store.

To setup the lock, it must be in the pre-setup condition and open when 1 is pressed. A reset box must be plugged into the battery port of the lock, and so the safe or vault door must be open, and access to the back of the lock is required.
Reset procedure is only available to Engineers and a password is required to access the page.

Download and unpack the file
- Click the button below to access a webpage where a .zip (Compressed) file with the software package can be downloaded
- On the web page that opens, click the Download button
located top left on the page. Do not click the file itself
The zipped file will download to either the downloads folders, or another location depending on your browser Once the file has downloaded, it must be unpacked or unzipped.
- Locate then right click the file and select Extract all…. If the file has been supplied on a USB flash drive, copy the file to your computer and extract it.
If it is not possible to unpack the .zip file using the Extract all... command, download suitable unpacking software such as 7-zip
Run the installation file
Once the zipped file has been unpacked, locate the folder AG Setup v2.0.1.66 Audit v5.0.2.66
Open the folder and double click Launch.exe
Allow the program to make changes on your computer.

Install the driver and software
Click Install Software
Click Install FTDI USB Driver, and follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver required for the USB interface.
Click Install AuditGard AuditView and follow the onscreen instructions for the audit software.
Click Install AuditGard Setup and follow the onscreen instructions for the setup software, which is only required if the lock needs to be setup after it has been reset with a reset box.
The software will create shortcuts on the desktop.
Instructions to take audit or setup a lock are available in a PDF which can be found in the help menu of each application.
Updated driver for Legacy LA GARD (11th June 2024)
Some customers have reported instances of problems when auditing 66e.
The issue seems to be related to Windows security updates, but there is an updated driver available to download by clicking the button below.
Where Windows 11 is in use, it must be fully updated, the updated driver works with Windows OS build 22631.3737, which was released on 11th June 2024.
Where Windows 10 is in use, the latest updates should be downloaded and installed.
Setup a lock
The procedure to setup a lock to Safelock Systems standard specification is only available to Engineers, and a password is required to access the page.
